------If you found your way to this home page, you have probably arrived either because of this page's involvement with Amateur Radio or with psychology (more below). This page is owned and maintained by Gary E. Jones, Ph.D. who is an Amateur (Ham) Radio Station Operator ( W5FI ) or a career research psychophysiologist and psycbology professor. There are brief descriptions of sub-sections of this page below which you can also follow to more information that may be of interest. This includes a family and friends section at the bottom.

Amateur (Ham) Radio Overview

W5FI has recently moved after being located for 29 years in Hattiesburg, Mississippi and moved to Shreveport, LA. Shreveport is northwest of Hattiesburg and about a 5 hour drive. The move required dismanteling of a near perfect amateur radio location (QTH) in Hattiesburg involving three towers and multiple yagi antennas, low band antennas, and multiple Beverage receiving antennas. The move was necessitated by a change of jobs that relocated us to the Shreveport vicinity. As it turns out, this location (QTH) will probably eventually be much better. Follow the QTH link to see the station locations. There is also a link which leads to current and past equipment configurations and station design.

In recent history, my main interests in Ham Radio have been DX (very long distance communications) and DXpeditioning (radio operation from distant locations ). There is a link to current dx operation, country totals, etc, and a link to my previous DXpeditions and possibilities.

Professional Information (Psychology and Library Science)

The second reason that you might have found your way to this page is if you followed a link that relates to my (or my spouse Dee's) professional/research interests. I am a clinical psychologist and professor by profession and have been interested in Psychophysiology since 1968. I have published fairly extensively in the area over the past 40 years. Most of my publications have been in an area dealing with a person's awareness of their own physiological functioning and how that understanding and awareness is used to assess states of wellness, stress, emotion, etc. This general area is variously known as visceral perception, visceral awareness, cardiac awareness, heartbeat perception, to name a few.

Dee (Spouse) has had two major professional careers, first as the Head and Curator of the DeGrummond Children's Literature Research Collection at the University of Southern Mississippi, and most recently, as Head Cataloguer at the Louisiana State University Health Science Center Medical Library.

Family Information

Finally, there is a basic family links section to this page which provides some personal information. In the day of identity theft, I guess that this will need to be less complete than it might be, which is a shame.

Friends

And the other reason that you might have found your way to this page is that you might be one of our friends, someone we used to know closely, or still know closely, and have shared a bit of life with. If you are just now finding us again after a long absence, we hope that this catches you up on some of life, and we would enjoy hearing from you, and please feel free to use the page to contact us.                               Gary (W5FI) and Dee Jones
